In episode 8 of season 4 of Drunk History, entitled "Food," viewers are treated to delectable tales of culinary adventures and misadventures from throughout history. As usual, a group of highly inebriated narrators regale the audience with stories from their chosen topics, which range from the origins of McDonald's fast food to the creation of the first celebrity chef.

In the first segment, comedian and actor Tom Green tells the tale of how London's legendary Pie and Mash Shops came to be. He recounts how a group of working-class immigrants from the East End of London founded the shops in the late 19th century, providing cheap and filling fare for the city's poor. Despite being ridiculed by the London elite, the shops thrived, and eventually became a cultural institution in the city thanks to their delicious pies, savory gravy, and perfectly mashed potatoes.

Next up is actress Rachel Bilson, who shares the story of how the fast-food giant McDonald's got its start. She tells the tale of the McDonald brothers, who were the first to institute assembly-line techniques in the fast-food industry, and how their empire came to be taken over by the ruthlessly efficient businessman Ray Kroc. Bilson describes the rise of the McDonald's corporation and how it has become one of the biggest and most recognizable brands in the world.

In the third segment, actor Ryan Hansen narrates the story of how the iconic American dish of fried chicken became so popular. Hansen tells the tale of how Harland "Colonel" Sanders, a humble gas station owner in Kentucky, stumbled upon the recipe for his famous fried chicken and began selling it to travelers passing through town. He then goes on to describe how the Colonel built his fried chicken empire, eventually becoming a household name and even appearing in his own commercials.

The fourth segment, narrated by comedian and actress Michaela Watkins, takes us all the way back to ancient Rome and the origins of the very first cookbook. Watkins describes how Marcus Gavius Apicius, a wealthy Roman aristocrat, became obsessed with food and wine, and began collecting recipes from around the world. Eventually, he compiled them into a book, which became known as the first cookbook in history.

In the final segment, comedian and actor Rich Fulcher regales us with the story of the first celebrity chef, Antonin Careme. Fulcher explains how Careme, who was born into poverty in 18th-century France, discovered his passion for cooking at a young age and eventually became the most famous chef in the world. He describes how Careme revolutionized the art of cooking, and how he became a celebrity in his own right, cooking for the most powerful people in Europe.

Overall, season 4 episode 8 of Drunk History provides a delicious journey through the history of food, with plenty of humor and outrageous storytelling to keep viewers entertained. Whether you're a foodie or just enjoy a belly laugh, this episode is sure to leave you satisfied.
