Drunk History is a comedy series that features a well-known person getting intoxicated and narrating an event from history while actors reenact the story, lip syncing along with the drunken dialogue. In each episode, several stories are told, and season 5 episode 12 is no different, featuring three amusing tales of Death.

The first segment of the episode, narrated by comedian and writer Amber Ruffin, focuses on the mysterious disappearance of Agatha Christie in 1926. Amber hilariously slurs her words as she tells the story of how Christie's husband was cheating on her, causing her to go missing for days. During this time, a massive manhunt was launched to find the beloved crime author until she was eventually discovered, holed up at a hotel under a different name, trying to get new ideas for her next book. Ruffin's drunken storytelling adds an extra level of humor to an already wild tale.

The second segment, narrated by comedian and actor Rachel Bloom, tells the story of Australia's most infamous criminal, Ned Kelly. Bloom passionately tells the story of Kelly's life, painting a picture of a man who was feared by the authorities but revered by the working class. We see how Kelly's Irish heritage, upbringing in poverty, and suspicion of the police led to a series of events that would make him a legend. Bloom's quirky personality and wild antics add a comedic touch to an otherwise serious topic, making this segment both entertaining and informative.

The third and final segment of the episode, narrated by actor and comedian Patton Oswalt, focuses on the life and times of Thomas Midgley Jr., an inventor and chemist who helped create leaded gasoline, and later, CFCs. Oswalt slurs his words as he explains how Midgley's inventions were hailed as great advancements at first, but eventually led to dire consequences for both the environment and human health. The segment is as informative as it is funny, and Oswalt's drunken narration adds a surreal quality that makes the entire story feel even more absurd.

As with any episode of Drunk History, the storytelling is not always precise. However, the over-the-top performances from the actors miming along to the drunken ramblings, juxtaposed with the historical events, make for a hilarious and entertaining viewing experience. Season 5 episode 12, with its three fascinating tales of Death, is no different. The episode is a riot from beginning to end, and fans of the show will not be disappointed.
