Ep 1. Un millon de millas

El Barco is a Spanish science-fiction series that premiered on January 17, 2011, on Antena 3. The show follows the lives of the crew and passengers of a mysterious ship named the Estrella Polar as they embark on a journey across a post-apocalyptic world destroyed by a massive tsunami. In Season 1, Episode 1, titled Un millon de millas (One Million Miles), the adventure of a lifetime begins.

The crew consists of a diverse group of people with different backgrounds and expertise, including scientists, engineers, and sailors. As they set sail, the crew faces their first challenge: a storm in the middle of the ocean. The storm is so severe that it damages the ship's engines, navigation systems, and communication devices.

As the crew struggles to keep the ship afloat, they discover that the storm was caused by a massive magnetic field disturbance. They realize that they are not alone in this world, and there might be other ships out there trying to survive. The team begins working on restoring the ship's communication systems to try and contact other ships and find out more about what had happened post-tsunami.

On the other hand, Ainhoa is secretly looking for her missing father, who was part of a research team that left for Antarctica a few months ago. She believes that he might be on the Estrella Polar, and with the help of Ulises, she starts exploring the ship to find him. As they search for clues, they stumble upon a research lab, and Ainhoa is shocked to discover that her father was one of the scientists working on the project.

As the episode nears the end, the crew's situation worsens as they continue to face various challenges, including limited resources, food supplies, and medical equipment. While trying to repair the engines, a member of the crew gets severely injured, and the team has no choice but to amputate his arm. The situation leaves everyone emotionally distraught, and they realize that their journey won't be easy.

The first episode of El Barco is a thrilling start to the series, with an intriguing storyline and well-developed characters. It sets the tone for the rest of the series, promising plenty of action, drama, and suspense as the Estrella Polar sails on, carrying the hopes of its crew and passengers.
