Ep 6. Maryann & Haley

Maryann and Haley are featured in the sixth episode of the fourth season of Extreme Couponing. Maryann, a single mom with three kids, has been teaching Haley her couponing skills. Haley is new to the couponing game, but she’s catching on quickly. Both Maryann and Haley want to save as much money as possible to provide for their families.

Maryann has been couponing for six years and now has a stockpile with over $15,000 worth of items. She has a strategy to stock up on as many items as possible by combining sales and coupons. Maryann’s kid’s school is having a fundraiser and she plans on donating her stockpile to the school’s auction. Maryann and Haley plan on purchasing over $400 worth of grocery items for under $20.

Haley has been couponing for a year and each week she has been able to feed her family of four for under $30. Haley’s best haul was getting over $500 worth of items for under $5. Haley is excited to coupon with Maryann because she wants to learn how to save even more money.

Maryann and Haley head to the grocery store and start filling their carts with items on sale. They split into two transactions, with Haley purchasing first. Haley’s initial total comes out to $167, but she uses her coupons to bring the total down to $5.12. Maryann’s initial total comes out to $274, but she uses her coupons to bring the total down to $13.88.

The two take their haul back home and start organizing and arranging their stockpile. Maryann gives Haley tips on how to keep her stockpile organized, which Haley takes to heart. Maryann also shows off her stockpile, which includes over 20 bottles of laundry detergent, over 60 boxes of cereal, and over 100 bottles of body wash.

Later on, Haley meets with her friend Casey to showcase her stockpile. Casey is surprised by how much Haley got for such a low price and Haley gives Casey a few coupons to start her own couponing journey.

Maryann and Haley head to the school auction with their stockpile in tow. The auction is a silent auction, with Maryann’s and Haley’s items being put on display for bidding. Maryann’s items include family-sized boxes of cereal, cleaning supplies, and toiletries, while Haley’s items include diapers, baby wipes, and household supplies.

By the end of the auction, Maryann’s items sold for a total of $960, while Haley’s items sold for a total of $620. The two were ecstatic to have made such a big donation to the school’s fundraiser.
