- 3 Seasons
Family BrainSurge is a television series that premiered in 2009 on Nickelodeon. The show was adapted to simulate a show that aired in Japan - Brain Survivor - which was produced by the Tokyo Broadcasting System. While the series was only taped for three seasons and was never found on any Canadian channels, it did debut in other languages and countries. The series was taped at Hollywood Center Studios in California, and was hosted by Jeff Sutphen. The series is in a "game show" setting with quite a few original and unheard of themes and very bright and eclectic colors to compliment them. In each episode, the contestants - known as "Brainiacs" - face visual and physical challenges that provoke the players to use their brains and think outside of the box. When a Brainiac fails a challenge, they get "Brain Drained" and are no longer being eligible to compete in challenges and obstacles. The way in which the Brain Drained Brainiacs are required to exit the stage are handled in a light, comical manner that is very kid-friendly. The contestants compete to win a variety of age-appropriate and/or family oriented prizes and a messy surprise ending.
