It's Christmas time in Barry and Essex, and everyone is excitedly preparing for the festivities. Gavin, Stacey and baby Neil are back in Essex to spend the holiday with Stacey's family, while Smithy is feeling homesick in Barry and missing his son, Neil. Meanwhile, Pam and Mick are trying to make Christmas perfect for everyone, with Pam determined to put on a lavish spread, while Mick spends hours untangling the Christmas lights.

Before long, everyone is reunited and the festivities are in full swing. There's a lot to catch up on, and some tension arises when Ness reveals a dark secret. But overall, spirits are high and everyone is feeling the Christmas cheer.

One of the highlights of the episode is the infamous singalong to "Fairytale of New York", which has become a beloved tradition for fans of the show. The entire cast gets involved, with Gavin and Smithy leading the charge and everyone else chiming in with their favourite lyrics.

But as the night wears on, it becomes clear that there are some unresolved issues between Smithy and Nessa. Despite their best efforts to put on a happy face and enjoy the holiday, tensions are simmering beneath the surface.

The episode brings all the heartwarming and hilarious moments that Gavin and Stacey fans have come to expect, while also adding a festive twist. With plenty of laughs, tears, and unexpected surprises, the Christmas Special 2008 is the perfect way to cap off a great second season.
