Ep 9. Safe Space

After last week's intense episode, Get Shorty's ninth episode of season 2, "Safe Space," begins with Miles (Chris O'Dowd) kicking off the first day of filming for his movie "The Admiral's Mistress." With Amara (Lidia Porto) back in the picture as the film's producer, things seem to be going according to plan until Nick (Ray Romano) unexpectedly shows up. Despite being warned by Louis (Sean Bridgers) to stay away from the set, Nick tries to sell Miles on the idea of casting his client, a reality TV star, in the film. Miles quickly shuts down this idea, telling Nick that he's not interested in stunt casting and his priority is the success of the movie.

Meanwhile, Yago (Goya Robles) is dealing with the aftermath of his encounter with Swayze (Desmin Borges). When he comes into contact with a storage unit containing cash and drugs, he sees an opportunity to make a quick profit and enlists the help of Daryll (Sasha Feldman) to fence the items. However, their plan quickly goes awry when they discover that the storage unit belonged to a gangster who is now on the hunt for his missing goods. Yago and Daryll are forced to scramble to cover their tracks and come up with a plan to avoid getting caught.

Back on the set of "The Admiral's Mistress," tensions are rising between Miles and Amara. With the weight of her empire on her shoulders, Amara is under pressure to deliver a successful film and is growing increasingly frustrated with Miles' hands-off approach to directing. When a problem arises on set, Amara takes it upon herself to step in and take charge. But her meddling only causes more problems, and she and Miles eventually have a heated argument.

As all of this drama unfolds, Rick (Raymond Cruz) continues to search for his missing daughter, Emma (Carolyn Dodd). His search leads him to Swayze, who reveals that Emma is safe but in danger. Swayze offers to help Rick find her, but he has one condition: Rick must help him take down Amara and her organization.

As the episode reaches its conclusion, all of these storylines collide in a dramatic and unexpected way. Miles is forced to make a tough decision that could have far-reaching consequences, while Yago and Daryll's ill-conceived plan leads to an explosive confrontation.
