Watch Ghost in the Shell: Arise, Alternative Architecture (Original Japanese Version)
- 1 Season
Ghost in the Shell: Arise, Alternative Architecture is a 2015 re-imaging of Masamune Shirow's massively popular science fiction series, Ghost in the Shell which contains four animated films which were originally aired in a segmented televised format. One of the most immediate and notable alterations between Arise and the original Ghost in the Shell and all it's subsequent incarnations is the presentation of the main character, which features heavily altered character designs. The plot of Arise, like the original, follows the exploits of the brilliant and abrasive Public Security officer, Motoko Kusanagi and her struggles in the futuristic Newport City. Taking place in 2027, the world has experienced massive leaps in technological advancement which has allowed humans to fully merge with machines, with the vast majority of the population becoming at least partially infused with machinery, turning them into cyborgs. Motoko is one such cyborg whose body has been crafted specifically for tactical combat and espionage. Unfortunately for her the prosthetic body which she currently occupies does not belong to her, but rather to the tyrannical 501 Organization for whom she works which leads her into conflict with the organization. And when she discovers that the Organization has implanted false memories into her brain to further their own nefarious ends she begins a harrowing journey into the dark descent of Newport's underworld.
