In the opening episode of "Guerrilla", the audience is introduced to Marcus and Jas, a couple living in London in the 1970s. The British Black Panthers have just disbanded, so Marcus, a former member, and Jas, a nurse, are feeling disillusioned and frustrated. They attend a protest against the police harassment of a black man and end up taking home a couple of activists who were brutally beaten by the cops.

That night, their house is raided by the police, who arrest their guests and plant weapons to tie them to a robbery. Despite Jas's attempts to defend their innocence, they are all sentenced to jail. Marcus is released after serving six years, but his experience in prison has radicalized him. He becomes determined to fight for black liberation and begins to organize a guerrilla group alongside Kent, a vigilante, Josette, an activist, and Dhari, a former soldier.

Jas, on the other hand, struggles to reconcile her love for Marcus with her fears for their safety and for their future together. She begins to volunteer at a community center for young black people, where she meets Fallon, a teenager with a troubled past. Jas takes Fallon under her wing and tries to steer her away from the violence of the streets.

Meanwhile, the police are attempting to crackdown on the black power movement. Kent is identified as a key player and his photo is circulated throughout the police force. Fallon is arrested for carrying drugs and is given a choice: give up Kent or go to jail. She chooses to protect Kent and is sentenced to prison.

The first episode of "Guerrilla" sets the stage for a complex and intense drama that explores themes of race, identity, loyalty, and sacrifice. The show presents a powerful depiction of black people fighting for their rights in the face of institutionalized oppression, and it does not shy away from showing the violence and brutality of the struggle. At the same time, it also illuminates the intimate and personal struggles of its characters, particularly Jas, whose conflicted feelings towards her partner and her community are a poignant reminder of the complexity of individual and collective identity. Overall, "Guerrilla" promises to be a gripping and thought-provoking portrayal of a pivotal moment in British history.
