Ep 2. Innocent Man

At the beginning of Highlander: The Series season 1 episode 2, titled "Innocent Man," we see a man named Howard Crowley boarding a train with his wife and young son. Two thugs also enter the carriage and one of them ends up killing Howard during a scuffle. Duncan MacLeod, the immortal protagonist of the show, witnesses the murder and is determined to not let the killers get away with it.

Meanwhile, a man named Charlie DeSalvo appears on the scene and warns Duncan to stay away from the investigation. Charlie is another immortal who has a complicated history with Duncan, and they don't exactly get along. However, Duncan refuses to back down and continues looking into the murder.
