The episode "Song of the Executioner" is the fourteenth episode of season three of the hit fantasy television series Highlander: The Series. The episode originally aired on March 18, 1995, and was directed by Richard Martin with a screenplay written by David Tynan.

The episode begins with Duncan MacLeod, the show's protagonist and immortall main character, attending a music recital by his friend and fellow immortal, Hugh Fitzcairn, in Paris. Fitzcairn is a renowned musician, but his performance is interrupted when he receives a phone call notifying him that his estranged wife, Marie, was killed in a car accident. Fitzcairn is devastated and blames himself for their estrangement. MacLeod tries to comfort him but ultimately leaves as Fitzcairn takes a phone call.

Meanwhile, in Seacouver, Amanda, another immortal and a former lover of both MacLeod and Fitzcairn, hears of Marie's death and rushes to Paris to support them. After meeting with Fitzcairn, Amanda discovers that the car accident that killed Marie was no accident at all. Fitzcairn's wife was murdered, and the killer is still on the loose. Fitzcairn is determined to find the killer and avenge his wife's death.

As Fitzcairn begins to investigate Marie's death, he discovers that the killer is an immortal who goes by the name "the Executioner." Fitzcairn and MacLeod have encountered the Executioner before; he is a ruthless immortal who enjoys killing other immortals and taking their heads. The Executioner has no honor and does not follow the rules of the game as most immortals do.

Fitzcairn and Amanda decide to work together to track down the Executioner while MacLeod warns them against getting involved. They refuse to back down and enlist the help of another immortal, a former soldier named Steven Keane. Keane has had previous dealings with the Executioner and may be able to provide some valuable information.

As they dig deeper into the Executioner's past, Fitzcairn and his team discover that he is working with a group of mortal mercenaries who are helping him track down and kill other immortals. The Executioner has promised his mercenaries a share of the Quickening, the energy that is released when an immortal is decapitated, as payment for their services.

Fitzcairn and his team devise a plan to trap the Executioner and his mercenaries, but things go wrong when Amanda is captured. Fitzcairn and Keane continue the plan without her, but they are outnumbered and outgunned. MacLeod ultimately arrives to help, but it remains to be seen if they will be able to save Amanda and defeat the Executioner before it's too late.

"Song of the Executioner" is a thrilling episode with intense action scenes, deep character development, and a captivating storyline. It explores the themes of grief, revenge, and loyalty, and provides insight into the complexities of the immortal world. Fans of the series will not be disappointed by this episode, which is considered one of the show's strongest entries.
