Joe returns from Afghanistan to find that Louise is prepared to take measures against him to protect herself and their children. Howard and Paula struggle with their finances. Meanwhile, Tasha and Tom reckon with the fallout of Matt's death.

The inquest to determine the cause of Matt Raveley's death turns up evidence that paints the late Matt as a hero, but also sends Paula into disarray when Tom backs a verdict of "Accidental Death."

Pete (Greg Wise) returns home and confronts Claire about her secret job, while Claire tries to convince Pete's daughter Millie (Rosie Day) to end her affair with a young soldier.

Louise confronts Nicki over her tryst with Joe (Warren Brown). Tasha's mother arrives from Spain and clashes with Paula Raveley over how to raise their grandson Alfie. Claire goes for a job interview.
