Hot Rod Garage season 8 episode 95 features the second part of the C5 Do-It-All Corvette build. The project is to transform a 2002 Corvette Z06 into a dual-purpose car capable of both drifting and road-racing.
In the first part of the build, the guys stripped down the Corvette and installed a new Wilwood brake system, custom coilovers, and a set of Forgeline wheels wrapped in Falken tires. Additionally, they addressed the engine by installing a Holly Dominator EFI System, long-tube headers, and a custom exhaust.
In part two, the guys continue their transformation by focusing on the suspension. They install a set of BC Racing true rear coilovers and a set of front coilovers with adjustable camber plates. The new rear suspension is intended to help the car break traction in a controlled manner while drifting. Meanwhile, the front suspension is meant to help the car maintain grip during high-speed corners while road-racing.
After installing the suspension, the team then focuses on the interior. They install new racing seats and a 6-point roll cage to improve safety. Additionally, they install a hydraulic handbrake for drifting, and a custom dash with a Holley digital display.
After all the performance upgrades, the team puts the C5 Corvette to the test. They first take the car out to a drifting course where they put the suspension to the ultimate test. After several runs, they conclude that the new setup is a vast improvement over the stock suspension.
However, the guys are not done yet. They then take the car out to a road course and put it through its paces. They test both the car's handling and acceleration. The results are impressive as the C5 Corvette shows good speed and agility on the track.
In the end, the C5 Do-It-All Corvette is a versatile car that can put on a great show in both drifting and road-racing events. The Hot Rod Garage team was successful in their goal to create a dual-purpose car, and now they can't wait to take it out to the track and see what it can do.
