Julie's Greenroom is a television series created by Netflix specifically for young children. The show debuted its first season in 2017, and stars the legendary actress, Dame Julie Andrews. Joining her on the show are a group of puppet characters, also known as the "Greenies," who attend a performing-arts school located inside of a theater.

At the beginning of every episode, Julie and the Greenies perform a song together that highlights the theme for that episode. Following the musical number, Julie speaks directly to the young viewers, who she refers to as her "Greenies-In-Training," and explains what they can expect from that particular episode. The show then cuts to a skit in which the Greenies learn about the particular performance art that is being featured.

Throughout the first season of Julie's Greenroom, the performers learn about all different types of theater, from puppetry to opera. Each episode is essentially a lesson in a particular performance art form. Additionally, there is a new guest star who appears in every episode. The guest stars are all well-known performers, like Idina Menzel, Alec Baldwin, and Josh Groban.

In each episode, the Greenies face a particular challenge, usually one that relates to the guest star's area of expertise. For example, in the episode featuring the dance legend, Savion Glover, the Greenies struggle with finding their rhythm before finally learning to tap dance. The show's creators use the Greenies to demonstrate the process of learning a new performance art, as well as the value of perseverance and hard work.

One particularly special aspect of Julie's Greenroom is that it offers a unique blend of live action and puppetry. The Greenies are all puppets, but the show frequently features live-action scenes with Julie, as well as the guest stars. This combination of formats allows the show to be more engaging for young viewers, who are likely to be entertained by both the puppets and the live-action scenes.

The show's cast is comprised of a talented group of performers. Giullian Yao Gioiello plays the role of Julie's assistant, Gus, who is always trying to keep everything in order backstage. Stephanie D'Abruzzo provides the voice for Sticks, one of the Greenies, who is particularly fond of the xylophone.

Perhaps the most memorable aspect of Julie's Greenroom is the presence of Dame Julie Andrews herself. While the show is certainly intended for very young viewers, it is clear that Andrews is having a great time playing with the Greenies and sharing her love for the performing arts with a new generation.

Overall, Julie's Greenroom is a delightful show that perfectly balances entertainment with education. The mix of puppetry and live action makes the show visually engaging, while the guest stars provide an added element of excitement. While the show is certainly geared toward a younger audience, it is enjoyable for viewers of all ages, particularly those who love the performing arts. Whether you're a long-time fan of Julie Andrews, or simply looking for a delightful show to watch with your little ones, Julie's Greenroom is an excellent choice.
