  • July 18, 2007

Just Jordan is a popular American television show that premiered on January 7, 2007, on Nickelodeon. The show primarily focuses on the life of its protagonist, Jordan (played by Lil 'JJ), a teenage boy who moves with his family to Los Angeles from Arkansas. The show's ensemble cast includes famous names like Chelsea Tavares, Justin Chon, and Raven Goodwin, among others. The show has been critically acclaimed for its humor and relatable storyline that appeals to both children and adults.

In the first season's twelfth episode, titled "Krumpshakers," Jordan and his friends decide to attend a dance battle that takes place in Downtown Los Angeles. Jordan's little sister, Tangie (played by Raven Goodwin), wants to perform at the event, but Jordan and his friends are reluctant to let her, thinking that she might embarrass herself. They eventually agree and allow her to perform after she pleads with them, and she joins the dance group. The group practices late into the night and gives it there all during the performance, but things take an unexpected turn when they learn the prize for winning the dance battle isn't what they thought it would be.

Jordan tries to convince his parents to let him sleep over at Tony Lee's house so that they can practice before the show. Despite his poor grades and eventual confiscating of his phone, Jordan convinces his parents to let him stay over. The group prepares to perform Krumping, a high-energy dance style originating from African American communities.

The night of the show finally arrives, and the dance group is ready for battle, but when they reach the venue, they discover that the prize for winning the contest is a cheap trophy. This doesn't discourage them from performing their best, and they deliver an outstanding performance. But before they could claim the trophy, a rival group of dancers creates a scene, and the contest turns into a brawl. The group quickly realizes that winning isn't everything and decides to call it a night.

Later, Jordan's mom receives a phone call from the organizers of the dance contest, and they inform her that although they didn't win the trophy, they won the contest. To everyone's surprise, the prize is a $1,000 check, which the group decides to use to buy gifts for their families and donate to a local charity.

"Krumpshakers" is an enjoyable episode of Just Jordan that showcases the importance of friendship, teamwork, and determination. The episode's focus on Krumping is a refreshing change from the regular dance routines seen on most television shows or movies, and the dance battle's surprise ending teaches a valuable lesson about what it means to win and lose. Jordan's character remains at the center of it all, and his humorous antics and relatable nature are what make this show a must-watch. The show's creator, Alison Taylor, did an excellent job of balancing humor and lessons of morals, and this episode stands as a prime example of that.
