As Kahoko's performance in the finals draws near, she begins to feel the weight of the pressure that comes with the competition. She is determined, as always, to do her best and make her friends and teachers proud. However, a wrench is thrown into her plans when a dark event takes place before the final round. The academy experiences a break-in, with the only item taken being the precious Stradivarius violin that was on loan for the competition.
As the dedicated music students try to wrap their heads around the theft, tempers begin to flare. With each passing moment, everyone becomes more anxious and suspicious of one another. As Kahoko and her friends try to figure out who could have taken the prized violin, it becomes clear that there is a lot at stake in this competition and the prevalence of cheating is not off the table.
As the search for the Stradivarius heats up, Kahoko finds herself working alongside Ryotaro, who becomes increasingly unhinged as they get closer and closer to the truth. Ryotaro is convinced that he knows who stole the violin, and his accusatory remarks put everyone on edge. Meanwhile, Kahoko continues to practice in the hopes of performing perfectly in the final round even with the weight of these events.
The final round approaches rapidly as orchestras begin to practice for the day to start. Kahoko is focused, decked out in her elegant attire and her violin at her side. However, when it comes time for her to perform her piece, she freezes, her nerves getting the better of her as she performs the piano solo. She stumbles through the piece, forgetting notes and fumbling with the rhythm, and is overcome with defeat when she finishes.
After the competition, Kahoko confides in her friends, distraught that she let everyone down, but they remind her that it's not over. They vow to continue their search for the stolen Stradivarius and put the pieces back together before it's too late. Kahoko is reminded of how lucky she is to have friends and fellow musicians who have her best interests at heart.
The episode ends with the stolen violin still missing, and Kahoko and her friends focused on finding it. With the competition out of the way, they now have nothing to do other than work together and find out who is responsible for stealing the violin. The Guilty Pianissimo is a riveting episode that showcases the pressure that the students of Seiso Academy are under and how they come together in times of crisis.
