Annaleigh Ashford In Concert is the third episode of the 44th season of Live From Lincoln Center. This episode features the multi-talented Annaleigh Ashford, a familiar face on Broadway and television. Viewers can expect to be mesmerized by Ashford’s impeccable vocal range and her signature wit and charm throughout the show.

The concert opens with a jazzy rendition of Irving Berlin’s classic song “I Love a Piano” and is followed by an upbeat, foot-tapping performance of “Johnny One Note” from the Rodgers and Hart musical Babes in Arms. Ashford’s infectious energy and playful stage presence captivates the audience from the get-go.

Throughout the show, Ashford performs a mix of musical numbers from Broadway and beyond, showcasing her diverse range as a performer. She channels her inner Marilyn Monroe with a sultry rendition of “My Heart Belongs to Daddy” from the musical Leave It To Me!, and tugs at heartstrings with beautiful ballads such as “Beautiful,” from the Broadway musical Heathers, and “A Quiet Thing,” from the Kander and Ebb musical Flora, the Red Menace.

Ashford also pays tribute to some of her favorite female performers, including Bernadette Peters and Judy Garland. She captivates with a heartfelt version of Peters’ signature song “Time Heals Everything” from the musical Mack and Mabel, and a poignant, stripped-down rendition of Garland’s “The Man That Got Away” from A Star is Born.

However, it’s not all serious ballads and torch songs as Ashford injects her performance with her trademark humor and quirkiness. She pokes fun at herself with a hilarious rendition of “(Not) Getting Married Today” from Stephen Sondheim’s musical Company, and performs a fun, peppy version of “Adelaide’s Lament” from Guys and Dolls, complete with some comedic ad-libs.

The show also features a special guest appearance by Ashford’s former Kinky Boots co-star, Billy Porter. The two share the stage for a rousing rendition of the duet “Not My Father’s Son” from the musical. Their chemistry and vocal harmony are electric, making it a highlight of the show.

The concert is a true celebration of Ashford’s talent and versatility as a performer. Throughout the show, she showcases her exceptional vocal range, stunning stage presence, and incredible ability to convey emotion through song. There is no doubt that viewers will be thoroughly entertained and emotionally moved by Annaleigh Ashford In Concert.
