Live Up To Your Name Season 1 Episode 2

Ep 2. Episode 2

Ji Hyeon-ho, a butcher, comes across Heo Im, who is in modern times as Yeon Yi walks him into her house. Ji has been suffering from severe back pain which he is convinced is the result of his long-standing problem with hemorrhoids. After examining him, Heo Im diagnoses him as having an inguinal hernia and prescribes an herbal remedy.

Meanwhile, Choi Yun-kyung, the director of the oriental medicine hospital where Heo Im works at and where the director herself claims to have no interest in traditional medicine, is visited by her father, Choi Jae-sung. He has arrived unannounced and requests his daughter to treat his liver, which has deteriorated due to years of heavy drinking. Yun-kyung adamantly refuses, causing her father to leave, disappointed and angry.

Yeon Yi visits Heo Im at the hospital and tells him that she is unhappy with her appearance. Heo Im sees that she is pretty and asks how it is possible for her to feel that way. Yeon Yi admits that she has always been self-conscious about her nose, which she believes is too wide. Heo Im takes a quick glance at her nose and comments that it is "not bad." Yeon Yi pleads with him to help her, and he promises to do his best.

At the hospital, Heo Im returns Ji's money. The butcher is surprised and asks why Heo Im isn't charging him. Heo Im replies that he believes in helping people in need, regardless of their ability to pay. However, he couldn't say the same about modern medicine.

Yun-kyung's father arrives at the oriental hospital again, this time with a gift for Heo Im. The two men sit down to drink some Korean rice wine, and Heo Im asks Jae-sung about his relationship with his daughter. Jae-sung laments that he has been absent for most of Yun-kyung's life and regrets not being there for her when she needed him.

Back at Yeon Yi's house, Heo Im prepares a herbal remedy for her nose. He warns her that it might sting and gives her tips on how to alleviate the pain. Suddenly, Yeon Yi's sister comes home and surprises the two. Yeon Yi tries to introduce Heo Im as her friend, but her sister is immediately suspicious and asks to know who he really is.

The episode concludes with Yun-kyung going through her father's medical records and discovering that he had visited several hospitals previously but was turned away because of his condition. She finally decides to help him and calls him to tell him that she will treat him.

Overall, Episode 2 of "Live Up To Your Name" explores the themes of traditional medicine versus modern medicine and family dynamics. Heo Im's holistic approach to healing and his willingness to help others in need clash with Yun-kyung's strict adherence to scientific-based medicine. Meanwhile, Jae-sung's regret over his past mistakes serves as a reminder of the importance of family and forgiveness. The episode ends on a hopeful note, with Yun-kyung finally agreeing to treat her father and Yeon Yi gaining the courage to stand up to her sister.
