Ep 1. Welcome to Matheson

In the premiere episode of Locke & Key season 1, entitled "Welcome to Matheson," we are introduced to the Locke family: mother Nina, and her three children Tyler, Kinsey, and Bode. The family has recently been through a traumatic experience, as their father was murdered by a deranged student at Tyler's high school.

Hoping to start over, Nina moves the family from Seattle to Matheson, Massachusetts, where they take up residence in a sprawling estate called Keyhouse, which has been in the family for generations. However, the move is not without its challenges, as the Lockes must adjust to their new surroundings and come to terms with their grief.

Bode, the youngest of the Lockes, is the first to discover the many secrets of Keyhouse. Exploring the grounds, he stumbles upon a well that seems to be a gateway to another world, filled with strange creatures and magical keys. Bode also discovers that he is not the only one searching for the keys; a malevolent force is also interested in acquiring them, and will stop at nothing to get what it wants.

As the family settles into their new home, tensions begin to rise between Tyler and Kinsey. Tyler struggles to adjust to life in Matheson, and resents his mother for uprooting the family. Kinsey, on the other hand, is excited about the move and wants to explore the town. The siblings' relationship becomes even more strained when Tyler catches Kinsey sneaking out to a party.

Meanwhile, Nina grapples with her own demons. Haunted by memories of her husband, she turns to alcohol to numb her pain. She also begins to sense that something is not quite right at Keyhouse, but is not sure what to make of the strange occurrences.

As the episode comes to a close, Bode discovers a new key that allows him to travel through time. However, his excitement is short-lived, as the malevolent force makes its presence known and attacks him. The Lockes are left shaken and afraid, realizing that their new home is not as safe as they had hoped.

"Welcome to Matheson" is a gripping and suspenseful start to Locke & Key season 1. The episode sets up the series' premise and introduces viewers to the intricate world of Keyhouse. With strong performances from its cast and stunning visual effects, the show promises to be a thrilling ride.
