After a season finale that left fans on a cliffhanger, Love, Victor is back with its second season, and in Episode 2, titled Day One, Take Two, we get to see where the show is heading. Season one introduced us to a young Victor Salazar, a half-Puerto Rican and half-Colombian boy who was struggling to come to terms with his sexuality. Moving to Atlanta from Texas with his family, Victor has left behind his old life, the bullies at school, and his secret crush on his former friend, Benji.

In this new season, Victor is finally out of the closet and eager to explore his feelings for Benji. The first episode saw him confessing his love to Benji, only to be met with rejection. While Victor is disappointed, he remains optimistic and looks forward to starting over.

In the second episode, we see Victor starting his first day at Creekwood High, the same school where his crush, Benji, studies. Victor is excited about the fresh start, but things don't go quite as he had planned. He gets lost on his way to class, his locker won't open, and he unwittingly gets on the wrong side of a popular jock, Andrew.

At Creekwood, Victor's world expands beyond his previous life in Texas. He discovers a lively and diverse student body that provides him with new perspectives and experiences. As he navigates his way through the first day, he also has to deal with his parents' issues. His mom and dad are not on the same page about how to support their son as he comes out publicly, and this causes friction at home.

Meanwhile, Victor is still dealing with his disappointment from Benji's rejection. He finds solace in his new friend, Rahim, a handsome and mysterious theater kid with a British accent. Rahim is charming and witty, and Victor is intrigued by him. The two bond over a shared love of musicals, with Rahim introducing Victor to the classic Les Miserables.

As the day progresses, Victor faces some hard truths about his new life at Creekwood. While he may have left behind the bullies from Texas, he soon realizes that the jocks at Creekwood are just as bad. Andrew, the popular quarterback, takes an instant dislike to Victor. Andrew is used to getting what he wants, and when Victor inadvertently crosses him, he vows revenge.

Day One, Take Two is a great reflection of the show's mix of teen comedy, emotional drama, and romance. It's an episode that has everything that fans have come to expect- laughs, tears, and heartwarming moments. The show's strength lies in its ability to weave in heavy topics without becoming too preachy or sanctimonious.

The episode is directed by Jason Ensler, who does a great job of setting the tone and pace of the show. The various plotlines are well-balanced, and there is enough screen time given to each character. The performances from the cast are also noteworthy. Michael Cimino, who plays Victor, is charming and relatable. Anthony Turpel, who plays Victor's little brother, Felix, is a standout, and his comic timing is spot on. George Sear, who plays Rahim, brings a fresh energy to the show and is a welcome addition to the cast.

Overall, Day One, Take Two is a great start to the new season, and fans of Love, Victor will not be disappointed. The show's second season is shaping up to be even better than the first, and this episode is proof of that. It's a joy to watch, and it leaves us eager for more.
