Ep 3. Officer of the Day

In season 3 episode 3 of M*A*S*H titled "Officer of the Day," the camp is faced with a shortage of supplies. As the episode begins, the crew is seen struggling to find a way to improvise with what little medical equipment they have on hand. To make matters worse, they are informed that a high-ranking official, General Mitchell, will be making an unexpected visit to the camp as the Officer of the Day. However, they quickly realize that this will be no easy task, as the procurement officer assigned to their unit is incompetent and uncooperative. As they continue to search for a solution, the General arrives and immediately begins to inspect the camp.

Meanwhile, Frank Burns is tasked with showing the General around, much to his delight. Frank, always eager to please those in charge, sees this as an opportunity to make a good impression and advance his career. However, his plans are quickly derailed as he is forced to deal with various issues that arise in the camp, including the shortage of medical supplies.

As the inspection continues, the General becomes increasingly frustrated by the lack of supplies and by the ineptitude of the procurement officer. Hawkeye and Trapper continue to work on finding a solution and eventually manage to convince the procurement officer to release some supplies that are being held up in transit. With these supplies, they are able to treat a few patients who have been waiting for much-needed medical attention.

Overall, the episode is filled with tension and drama as the crew tries to deal with the unexpected visit of a high-ranking official and the shortage of medical supplies. It showcases the resourcefulness and determination of the M*A*S*H crew, who always manage to find a way to get things done, even in the face of adversity. Additionally, the episode provides some interesting character development for Frank Burns, who is shown to be more than just a bumbling buffoon but also possesses some skills and talents that make him an asset to the camp.
