In the sixth episode of the first season of Massive Moves, titled "Family Farmhouse," viewers are taken on a journey to a seemingly impossible project. A family living in the mountainous terrain of Oregon have had a 100-year old farmhouse in their family for generations that they want to have moved five miles down the road to their property. With various obstructions in the way, including a narrow and winding road, this move presents a challenge that is set to test the abilities of the crew.

The thirteen-member team consisting of experienced house movers, engineers, and equipment operators come together to make this massive move possible. Today's operation is exceptional and requires moving the house in one piece, with the view to maintain as much of the original structure as possible. This means that the structure, which is around 150 years old, has to remain level despite the varying topography.

In the initial stages of this episode, we meet the family and explore the reasons for the move. The current location of the house has several maintenance issues and has become too small to accommodate the family and their animals, considering the increase in business operations on the farm. We then see the team arrive on-site with their heavy machinery, ready to take on the challenge.

Next, the team sets off to work on the winding road. They begin by assessing the structural integrity of the road and ensure there is enough clearance to move the house through it. They also take a look at the few trees on either side of the road that need to come down to let the house pass through. Once the area is cleared, the crew begins to lay a path comprised of steel and timber to adequately support the house's weight.

Once the road is set, the house lifting process begins. The team uses a hydraulic jacking system to lift the house, leaving the foundation behind, and placing it onto its custom-made trailer. They then prepare to move the house slowly and carefully down the road, ensuring they keep the load stable and not incurring any damages.

As expected, several obstacles arise during the move. The narrow roads and danger of sharp slopes places significant pressure on both the crew and machinery involved in the move, and at some point, the move stalls due to a collapsed utility pole. The team quickly devises a solution, summoning a new pole and quickly getting back on track.

Despite all the obstacles, the crew finally completes the move and sets the house down on its new foundations, providing the family with ample space to expand their business and raise their family. The house is positioned carefully on the new site with the goal of minimizing the impact on the landscape and providing the best views of the beautiful surroundings.

The "Family Farmhouse" episode of Massive Moves is a testament to the expertise of the crew involved, and the tenacity required to overcome an immensely challenging task. Viewers get to experience the challenges and complexities of moving a house down a narrow and winding mountain road, witnessing the resilient team, and their unwavering commitment to make the impossible possible.
