As the episode begins, Marin is looking to forward to a weekend of hiking with Cash, but she hears a rumor from a local shop owner that Patrick and Annie had a romantic encounter. Later on, the housewarming party Jane throws goes awry when some uninvited guests show up and things get out of hand. Patrick stops by to lend a hand and connects with Jane in a way that leads her to admit she's ready to start dating again. Meanwhile, Jack is struggling to win over Lynn's dog, but his attempts only seem to make matters worse. She ends up canceling on him and Jack is left feeling incredibly frustrated that after years of breaking down all sorts of metaphorical walls, he can't seem to win over a single dog.
