Ginko, a wandering Mushishi, arrives at a seaside village to investigate an unusual phenomenon. The villagers report that their fishing has been blighted by a mysterious curse that has caused a decline in catches and interferes with their boats. Fishermen have also gone missing on sea. Local legend says that the curse is related to the nearby shrine, and people fear it.
Ginko soon discovers that the curse is caused by a sea deity that feeds on the spirits of humans in exchange for protecting the sea and controlling the weather. The deity has taken over the shrine, and people's prayers have only made it stronger.
Ginko meets a girl named Isana who has been marked by the sea deity. She seems to be the cause of the deity's anger toward the village. Ginko befriends Isana and learns of her deep connection to the sea.
Together, Ginko and Isana embark on a journey to the bottom of the sea to confront the deity and unravel the mystery behind their connection. They soon encounter a world of strange creatures and environments beyond their imagination.
With Ginko's help, Isana discovers the truth about her past and her relationship with the deity. She learns how to defeat the curse and end the village's suffering.
The episode is a poignant exploration of the power of belief and the ways in which we are connected to the natural world. It poses thought-provoking questions about humanity's relationship with nature and our struggle to understand the mysteries around us.
