Lee Mack's hit BBC One sitcom Not Going Out returned for a fourth series in 2012, and in the opening episode of the season, episode one, titled Drugs, Lee is in for a challenging night as he contemplates whether or not to try a Class A substance.
Lee, played by Mack, is faced with a dilemma when he discovers a bag of cocaine in Daisy and Tim's flat, the couple who he shares his house with. Not knowing what to do with the drugs, Lee contemplates trying a line himself, but is hesitant when Lucy, his girlfriend, arrives back home.
Lucy, played by Sally Bretton, is less than impressed with Lee's lack of a moral compass, and she quickly becomes embroiled in a group discussion with Tim and Daisy on how to handle the cocaine stash.
As Lee's personal crisis deepens, he sets out on a mission to get rid of the drugs, but his misguided attempts to dispose of them only lead to more trouble. Meanwhile, Lucy is preoccupied with her own work crisis, which could lead to trouble with her boss.
Will Lee resist the temptation and do the right thing by getting rid of the drugs? Or will his curiosity get the better of him as he takes a chance with a highly dangerous substance?
Not Going Out season 4 episode 1, titled Drugs, delivered the same slapstick humor that fans have come to expect from the show's previous three seasons. Lee Mack once again delivered a masterclass in physical comedy, while Sally Bretton's exasperated straight man character provided the perfect foil for Lee's antics.
The episode was written by Lee Mack himself, along with co-creator Andrew Collins, and it was directed by Nick Wood.
Fans of Not Going Out will already be familiar with the show's trademark style of humor, and season 4 episode 1 did not disappoint. The episode was filled with laugh-out-loud moments, from Lee's attempts to dispose of the drugs to Lucy's awkward conversations with her boss.
Overall, Not Going Out season 4 episode 1, titled Drugs, was a great start to the new season, and it set the tone for the episodes to come. Fans of the show will be pleased to see Lee Mack and Sally Bretton back in action, and they can look forward to more of the same hilarious comedy in the episodes ahead.
