Ep 3. Schooltown Follies

Greg and Wirt arrive at a peculiar town named Schooltown, and they hear catchy musical notes in the distance. They decide to follow the sound, and they discover that the town is putting up a play called "The Edelwood Variations." They quickly find themselves cast in the play along with the other children in town. Wirt is not very thrilled with the idea, but Greg embraces the opportunity and quickly becomes the star of the show.

As the play progresses, Wirt begins to suspect that something strange is going on in Schooltown. He notices that the other children in the play seem to be behaving strangely and that the schoolhouse itself appears to be alive. He also discovers that the play's director, Miss Langtree, is very controlling and seems to enjoy manipulating the children.

Meanwhile, Greg is having the time of his life, completely unaware of the danger that Wirt feels is closing in around them. He continues to sing and dance and make new friends, including a talking frog named Jason Funderburker.

Wirt becomes increasingly worried as the play draws to a close, and he realizes that they may not be able to leave Schooltown without a fight. He tries to convince Greg to leave with him, but Greg is hesitant to leave his newfound friends and the spotlight of the play.

As the final act of the play begins, Wirt discovers the true nature of the evil in Schooltown and must find a way to save himself, Greg, and the other children in the play. With the help of Jason Funderburker and a surprise ally, Wirt is able to confront the darkness and save the day.

The episode ends on a bittersweet note, with Greg learning an important lesson about the consequences of seeking attention and Wirt realizing that he can't always protect his little brother from the dangers of the unknown world they find themselves traveling through.
