- 13 Seasons
The animated series Regular Show airs on Cartoon Network. The show, created by J.G. Quitel, premiered September 6, 2010. It has aired for three seasons and received a renewal for a fourth season. The show centers on two friends in their early twenties, a blue jay named Mordecai and Rigby, a raccoon. The pair work as groundskeepers in a park with a cast of irregular characters, including their boss Benson, who is a living gumball machine, Skips, who is an immortal yeti who skips instead of walks, Muscle Man, who is fat with green skin and High Five Ghost, a ghost with a single hand sticking out the top of his head. Often, the stories follow Mordecai and Rigby as they try to work as little as possible by playing video games, watching horror movies or eating junk food. However, their attempts to skip out on work can lead them into many surreal situations, including fighting with living holograms of themselves, playing basketball in space and being chased by a deer with the body of a man. Benson often has to threaten to fire them in order to get them to do their jobs, however, many times this doesn't even work. Another reoccurring theme on the show is Mordecai's attempts to get a date with Margaret, a robin who works as a waitress in a coffee shop near the park. Margaret has a friend, a mole named Eileen, who has a crush on Rigby. For a while neither Margaret or Rigby seemed to want much to with Mordecai or Eileen, respectively, but as the show has progressed they have begun to return the affection. Regular Show has received critical acclaim since its release. Critics praise of the show normally involves the strange characters, unbelievable plot twists and adult themes that occur throughout a show created for a child audience. It has also received awards nominations in the form of an Annie Award nomination, which recognizes animation, Emmy Award nomination and BAFTA Children's Award nomination in 2011.
