Ash, May, Brock, Max, and Pikachu are on their way to Verdanturf Town when they stumble upon a group of trainers who are having trouble catching Pokémon. One trainer, in particular, is having trouble with his Poké Balls. They keep failing to capture any Pokémon, and he doesn't know what the problem is.

They eventually find Nicolette's father, who has been living on a hidden island for years in order to focus on his research. He explains that he's been working on a new type of Poké Ball that will be able to capture any Pokémon, regardless of its strength.

The group is amazed by the invention and offers to help test it out. They encounter a powerful Pokémon, and with the help of the new Poké Ball, are able to capture it easily. The trainer who had the fake Poké Balls is overjoyed, and thanks the group for their help.

In the end, Nicolette's father decides to return to civilization and share his invention with the world. The group bids him farewell and continues on their journey, ready for whatever challenges come their way.
