Pokemon the Series Season 9 Episode 31 The Ole' Berate and Switch!

In this episode of Pokemon the Series, Ash and his friends find themselves in a small town where they meet an old woman named Abigail. She is upset because her grandson, Tommy, has run away and left her with his disobedient Spoink. Ash and his friends offer to help her find Tommy and bring him back home.

As they search the town for Tommy, they come across a young boy named Max who is being berated by his father for losing a Pokemon battle. Ash steps in to defend Max and offers to battle the boy's father himself to help boost Max's confidence.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket is also in the town, trying to steal Spoink from Abigail. They come up with a plan to trick Abigail into trading Spoink for a fake creature that looks exactly like him. However, Ash and his friends catch onto their scheme and work together to stop them.

As the group continues to search for Tommy, they come across a shack where a mysterious man named Roderick is experimenting on Pokemon. They soon discover that Tommy has been taken by Roderick in an attempt to use Tommy's spoink for his own experiments.

The group devises a plan to sneak into Roderick's lab and rescue Tommy and Spoink. They are successful and Tommy is reunited with his grandmother, who is grateful to Ash and his friends for their help.

The episode ends with Max's father apologizing for his behavior and gifting Max with a new Pokemon to help him in future battles. Ash and his friends say goodbye to Abigail and Tommy as they continue on their journey to the next town.
