Survivors is the 15th episode of the 31st season of POV, a documentary series that showcases the work of non-fiction filmmakers and their stories. In this episode, director Arthur Jones explores the lives of four survivors of sexual assault and the ways in which they have used their experiences to become advocates for change.

The first survivor we meet is an artist and activist named Ericka Hart. Ericka talks openly about her experience as a breast cancer survivor and how it led to her becoming more comfortable with her body. She also shares the story of how she was sexually assaulted during a routine medical exam, and how that experience shaped her understanding of herself and her power. Ericka now uses her platform as an advocate for body positivity and queer rights to raise awareness about the experiences of survivors of sexual violence.

The second survivor we meet is a woman named Dionne P. Figgins. Dionne is a professional dancer who has performed in shows like The Lion King and Memphis. She talks about how her love for dance helped her cope with the trauma of being raped as a teenager. Dionne also shares how the experience has impacted her personal relationships, and how she relies on her faith to keep her grounded.

The third survivor we meet is a young woman named Sofia Karim. Sofia was sexually assaulted by her ex-boyfriend while she was studying abroad in Spain. She talks about how the experience affected her mental health and made her feel isolated and alone. Sofia now works with advocacy groups to help survivors of sexual violence and raise awareness about the issue on college campuses.

The fourth survivor we meet is a woman named Charitie Ropati. Charitie is a survivor of child sexual abuse and talks about the ways in which that experience affected her relationships and her ability to trust others. She also shares how her faith has helped her in her healing process and how she now works as a therapist to help survivors of trauma and abuse.

Throughout the episode, we see how these four survivors have used their experiences to become advocates for change. They share their stories with others to help break the stigma and shame surrounding sexual violence, and they work to create spaces where survivors can feel seen and supported.

Survivors is a powerful and inspiring episode of POV that shines a light on the strength and resilience of survivors of sexual violence. Through the stories of these four women, we gain a deeper understanding of the impact of sexual violence and the importance of supporting survivors on their healing journeys.
