Ep 4. Magic

The show "Reaper" follows the story of Sam Oliver, a young man who discovers on his 21st birthday that his parents sold his soul to the Devil. Sam is then forced to work as a "reaper" for the Devil, hunting down escaped souls that have been sent back to Earth. In season 1, episode 4, titled "Magic," Sam is tasked with capturing the soul of a magician who has made a deal with the Devil.

The episode begins with Sam, his best friend Sock, and their coworker Ben discussing their plans for the weekend. However, their plans are interrupted when the Devil shows up and assigns Sam his next target. The Devil explains that the soul they are after is a magician named D.J. Sullivan who made a deal with him to become the greatest magician in the world. Sam and the guys go to the magic show to try to capture D.J.'s soul. However, things don't go as planned when D.J. escapes through a trap door in the stage. Sam and his team chase D.J. through the backstage area and eventually catch up to him. However, D.J. reveals that he has a trick up his sleeve and escapes again, leaving Sam and the guys to figure out how he did it.

Meanwhile, Sam's love interest, Andi, is dealing with her own set of problems. She has been assigned to manage the magic show by her boss, who is pressuring her to make sure that everything goes smoothly. However, things start to fall apart when D.J. starts causing chaos backstage. Andi tries to contain the situation but is ultimately unsuccessful.

Back at the magic show, Sam and the guys are still trying to catch D.J. However, they are stumped by his latest trick - he disappears right in front of them. It's not until Sam remembers a conversation he had with D.J.'s former partner that he realizes how D.J. is able to execute his disappearing act. Sam and the guys quickly track down D.J. and capture his soul.

With D.J.'s soul in their possession, Sam and the guys return to The Work Bench - the store they work at - to turn it in to the Devil. However, they are surprised to find him gone and his assistant, Gladys, in charge. Gladys seems intent on making their lives miserable and denies them their usual payment for capturing souls.

The episode ends with Andi stopping by The Work Bench to talk to Sam. She tells him about the chaos at the magic show and expresses her frustration with her boss. Sam tries to cheer her up but is interrupted when he receives a call from the Devil. He informs Sam that he has been demoted and will now be working for Gladys instead. Sam is clearly unhappy with the news, setting up potential conflicts in future episodes.

Overall, "Magic" is a fun and engaging episode of "Reaper" that features some clever twists and turns. The magic show setting allows for some creative set pieces and the banter between Sam and his friends is as entertaining as ever. The episode also advances the ongoing storylines of the show, particularly Sam's complicated relationship with the Devil.
