Watch Whose Line Is It Anyway?

Originally a British television show, Whose Line is it Anyway? was hosted by Clive Anderson. After viewing audiences increased in the U.S., the show was then recast and picked up in California where it was then hosted by Drew Carey. Marketed as both a comedy and a gameshow, Whose Line is it Anyway? is actually a group of trained actors performing improvisational skits in front of a live audience. The comedy part comes in as you watch the actors try and make up lines and characters without any previous knowledge of what they will be asked to do.

This thirty minute show involves four different actors and one host. The host of the show gives out fake points to the winner of each round and at the end, the winner gets to perform their own improvisation with the host. In reality since the points don't matter, the host just picks an actor at random.

Some of the more frequent actors in the show are Colin Mockery and Ryan Stiles. These two actors have been on the show ever since its British airing. Other common actors are Craig Prubst, Brad Sherwood and Wayne Brady. In later seasons of the Drew Carey version there were notable guest stars such as Whoopi Goldberg and Robin Williams.

During each episode the actors perform a number of different exercises as indicated to them by the host. In some cases the audience gets to supply the host with different ideas for the actors to work into the scene they are playing. For example in the skit called unlikely superhero the audience gets to pick what the superheroes name will be such as Captain Pork. Captain pork might be fighting a crime wave that involves a shortage of bacon. Each new actor who joins the sketch is given a superhero name by the previous actor such as Disco Dancing Kid or Flatulence Man.

There are usually a total of four exercises performed in each show. These include props, scenes from a hat, musical infomercials and the dating game, just to name a few. The fun is never knowing what will come next.
