Reunions is a Japanese television drama series that premiered on Amazon Prime Video on December 20, 2020. It is directed by Takashi Miike and written by Satoko Okudera. The show follows the story of four siblings - Ichiro (Takayuki Yamada), Jiro (Kento Hayashi), Taro (Yusuke Santamaria) and Suzume (Yuko Takeuchi) - who return to their family home 15 years after the death of their father. The siblings have not seen each other in years and their reunion is marred by the secrets, grudges and resentments that have built up over the years.

Ichiro is a successful doctor who returns from the United States with his wife and son; Jiro is a struggling actor who has come back from Tokyo, Taro is the black sheep of the family who has managed to stay away from the family home and Suzume is the youngest sibling and the only one who has stayed in the family home.

The siblings have to deal with their mother, Shigeko (Rei Dan), who is suffering from dementia and has become increasingly forgetful, making her daughters-in-law uncomfortable. Shigeko's condition is a source of tension for the siblings, who, in turn, have to deal with their own personal problems.

As the siblings try to navigate their way through their relationships with each other and their mother, they begin to uncover secrets about their father's death and the events that led up to it. They also realize that they have to confront their own personal issues if they are to heal old wounds and move forward as a family.

Reunions is a poignant drama that explores the intricacies of family relationships and the power of forgiveness. The show does an excellent job of fleshing out the characters and their complex emotions, making the viewers empathize with them. The story is engaging and the pacing is just right. The series is beautifully shot and the music complements the narrative perfectly.

The acting performances of the cast are top-notch. Takayuki Yamada delivers a nuanced performance as Ichiro, the eldest sibling, who is trying to reconnect with his family after years of being away. Kento Hayashi is equally impressive as Jiro, who is struggling to make a name for himself as an actor. Yusuke Santamaria is convincing as Taro, the black sheep of the family who has been estranged from his family for years. Yuko Takeuchi's portrayal of Suzume is genuine and heart-warming.

Reunions also explores themes such as grief, regret, and the importance of communication in relationships. The show is a poignant reminder that family is the most important thing in life, and that no matter how strained relationships may become, forgiveness and reconciliation are always possible.

Overall, Reunions is an excellent drama that is well worth watching. The show offers a beautiful portrayal of family relationships, and the twists and turns of the narrative will keep viewers hooked till the end. The series is a wonderful example of Japanese cinema, which is known for its ability to capture the human experience with depth and sensitivity.
