In Rome Season 1 Episode 10 titled Triumph, the aftermath of Julius Caesar's victory in Gaul is explored. He returns to Rome not only as a victorious general but also as a populist leader adored by the people. Meanwhile, Servilia seeks revenge against Atia for the death of her lover, Caesar's enemy, Cato.

Caesar's triumph is a grand spectacle that draws thousands of spectators, with him parading through the streets on a chariot, accompanied by his army and captives. Vorenus and Pullo, who have served under Caesar in Gaul, follow their leader and witness the triumph. Vorenus is eager to reunite with his family, but he is shocked to find out that they have been taken by Niobe's sister, who despises him for his infidelity.

Atia, Caesar's niece, played by Polly Walker, is concerned about her status with the arrival of Caesar. She fears that her own son Octavian may be pushed aside, now that Caesar has a son of his own. Meanwhile, Servilia, played by Lindsay Duncan, schemes against her outside the city in an attempt to put to use her intimate relationship with Brutus.

Triumph marks a turning point for Rome, both politically and personally for its characters. Caesar's display of power and the support of the people is a direct challenge to the authority of the Senate and the traditional oligarchy in Rome. In contrast, Servilia's plot to take down Atia is personal, seeking revenge for Cato's death.

The episode also touches on issues of loyalty, family, and betrayal. Vorenus is devastated by the loss of his family, and Pullo is there to provide comfort and support, even going so far as to attempt to retrieve the children himself. Atia struggles with her relationship with Octavian and her desire to maintain her own power, while Servilia is torn between her love for Brutus and her loyalty to her cause.

Although the episode mainly focuses on Caesar and his triumphant return, it also provides a glimpse into the lives of the supporting characters and their challenges and struggles. Triumph sets the stage for the rest of the series as Caesar's power grows, and tensions between various factions escalate. Overall, the episode is a masterfully crafted hour of television that sets the stage for the epic story of Rome's rise and fall.
