"Secret Lives of Americans" is a documentary series that premiered on Pivot in 2015. Each episode follows the story of real people, who are facing different challenges in their lives. The show focuses on their secrets that they have been hiding from others for a long time. The show is hosted by three actors: Sarah Sheppeck, Jack Levic, and Katie Lynn Hall, who act as the narrators of each episode.

The show is unique in that it delves into the personal lives of ordinary people, covering broad and challenging topics from drug addiction to gender identity. It features the stories of people who are struggling with various issues, and how they are trying to face and overcome them. The stories are told entirely from the point of view of the people themselves, so viewers can get a genuine insight into the issues being highlighted.

Throughout the show, the three hosts explore a range of themes, including relationships, family, health, and work, and how these are affected by secrets. They also talk about how each person is trying to come to terms with their secrets and what impact they have had on their lives.

The three hosts each bring their own unique perspective to the show. Sarah Sheppeck is an actress, writer, and director, and her experience in the arts is evident in her ability to tell stories effectively. She has an energetic and engaging presence on camera, and her warmth helps to put people at ease when they talk about their struggles.

Jack Levic is a theatre artist and writer, who brings a thought-provoking approach to the show. His naturally calm and empathetic demeanor helps to create a safe space for the people featured on the show. Katie Lynn Hall is an actress and producer, who is passionate about giving people a voice. She helps to ask the right questions that allow people to open up about their secrets in a deeper way.

One of the most compelling aspects of the show is the raw honesty with which the stories are shared. Without judgment, the hosts help each person to unpack their stories, creating an environment where viewers can also connect with each person's story, whether they have faced a similar challenge or not.

Overall, "Secret Lives of Americans" is a thought-provoking and informative show that offers viewers a fresh perspective on the secret lives of ordinary people. Its personal storytelling approach provides a space for those who are struggling with similar issues to connect with each other, and it's a powerful reminder that we are all in this together, dealing with our own secrets and challenges.
