Ep 1. Reborn

In the first episode of Servant's first season titled 'Reborn', we are introduced to a young couple, Dorothy and Sean Turner, who hire a nanny named Leanne to take care of their newborn baby, Jericho. The couple lives in a stunning Philadelphia home that features rooms dedicated entirely to Dorothy's collectible dolls. Dorothy is a news reporter and Sean is a chef who has had recent success with his catering business.

As we learn more about the Turners, it becomes clear that their domestic life is not what it seems. The couple is grappling with the recent loss of their son, also named Jericho, who died suddenly at 13 weeks old. Dorothy, in particular, is struggling to cope with her grief and has taken to treating the new Jericho as if he is the old one, insisting on dressing him in the clothes the first Jericho wore and carrying around a doll meant to look like him.

Leanne, who is initially portrayed as a meek and obedient nanny, unsettles Sean from the get-go. He is skeptical of her lack of references and background information but Dorothy insists that they need to trust her. As the episode progresses, Leanne’s presence in the house becomes more mysterious and unsettling, with strange occurrences taking place around her. Dorothy insists on keeping the old baby monitor with them at all times, and through it, they hear strange noises and voices.

The episode takes a suspenseful turn when, after an argument, Dorothy and Sean discover that the new Jericho has died. They are horrified but Leanne insists that she can bring Jericho back to life through a spiritual ritual using the "power of prayer". Dorothy, unable to cope with losing another child and desperate to believe, implores Leanne to perform the ritual as Sean remains skeptical.

The episode ends with a shocking twist that portends more supernatural and mysterious twists to come. 'Reborn' sets the stage for a compelling mystery that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
