The second episode of Seven Deadly Sins picks up right where the first one left off. We are introduced to the second member of the group, Diane, a giant woman who is looking for her missing companion, King. Meanwhile, Elizabeth and Meliodas continue their journey to find the rest of the Seven Deadly Sins.
As they wander through the forest, they stumble upon a village that has been destroyed by a demon attack. It is here that they meet the first of the Seven Deadly Sins, a woman named Ban who is being held captive by the villagers for the crime of stealing their food. Ban is a skilled fighter and quickly dispatches of the villagers, but not before Meliodas reveals his true identity as the captain of the Seven Deadly Sins.
As they travel further, they come across a forest that is rumored to be the home of a monstrous beast. They decide to investigate, and as they walk, they are followed by a mysterious figure in a hooded cloak. They soon realize that the figure is a member of a group of bandits who have been terrorizing the forest. The bandit challenges Meliodas to a fight, but Meliodas is easily able to defeat him and his companions.
They eventually arrive at the entrance to the forest, where they are met by the monster that has been rumored to reside there. It is actually a giant boar, but one that has been possessed by a demon. Meliodas, Ban, and Diane fight the boar, but it proves to be too powerful for them to handle. It is only when they are able to identify and destroy the source of the demon's power that they are able to defeat it.
The episode is titled "Envy," and it is fitting that this theme runs throughout the episode. We see envy in the villagers who accuse Ban of stealing their food, and in the bandit who is jealous of Meliodas' power. We also see envy in Ban, who is longing for the love of her life, and in Diane, who is envious of Elizabeth's closeness with Meliodas.
Overall, this episode is an exciting continuation of the series. We get to meet more of the main characters and see more of the world that they inhabit. The fight scenes are well choreographed and keep the viewers on the edge of their seats. The exploration of the theme of envy adds depth to the characters and the story, and leaves us wanting more as we eagerly await the next episode.
