Ep 2. Mixed Signal

Sistas is a TV show that follows the lives of four Black women in their 30s as they navigate their love lives, careers, and friendships. Season 1 Episode 2, titled "Mixed Signal," continues to explore the lives of these women.

The episode opens with Andi (played by KJ Smith) waking up next to her coworker, Gary (played by Chido Nwokocha). Andi is clearly uncomfortable about what happened between them the night before and decides to leave without waking him up. Back at work, she confides in her friend, Karen (played by Ebony Obsidian), about the situation, but Karen thinks Andi should take a chance and pursue a relationship with Gary.

Meanwhile, Danni (played by Mignon Von) is dealing with the fallout of her breakup with her boyfriend, Preston (played by Anthony Dalton II). She is hurt by his lack of effort to make the relationship work and is determined to move on. However, when Preston shows up at her job with a grand gesture, Danni is unsure of what to do.

Sabrina (played by Novi Brown) is still dealing with the aftermath of her divorce and is finding it difficult to move on with her life. She meets up with a potential investor for her salon business, but the meeting is cut short when the man makes an unwelcome advance toward her. Sabrina struggles with whether or not to report the incident to the police.

Lastly, Karen is grappling with her feelings for her married ex-boyfriend, Aaron (played by Kevin Walton). While she tries to move on, he continues to reach out to her, leaving her confused about what he wants from her.

As the episode continues, each of the women must face their own challenges and make tough decisions. Andi and Gary have an awkward encounter at work, leading Andi to make a decision about their relationship. Danni must confront Preston and make a choice about whether or not to give him another chance. Sabrina decides to take action and report the investor's behavior to the police. Meanwhile, Karen must find the strength to move on from Aaron once and for all.

"Mixed Signal" is a compelling episode that explores the complexities of modern relationships and the challenges faced by women in their 30s. Each of the four women is dealing with their own unique struggles, but ultimately they must rely on each other for support and guidance. With strong writing and excellent performances, Sistas continues to be a must-see drama that explores important topics with nuance and sensitivity.
