In "Slings & Arrows" season 1 episode 4, titled "Outrageous Fortune," we see the New Burbage Theater Festival shaken up by the arrival of Hollywood actor Jack Crew (played by Luke Kirby). Jack is set to star in "Macbeth" and his arrival throws the actors, directors, and everyone else involved in the production into chaos.

Jack is known for his wild lifestyle and his unpredictability, and he brings some of that to the festival. He immediately clashes with the festival's artistic director, Geoffrey Tennant (played by Paul Gross), who sees Jack as a threat to his authority. This clashes also result in some hilarious moments and off-the-cuff remarks.

Meanwhile, the festival's "Hamlet" production is struggling. The actor playing Hamlet, Oliver (Stephen Ouimette), is having trouble finding his footing in the role, and his confidence is shaken. He starts to worry that he may not be able to deliver the performance that is expected of him.

Geoffrey tries to help Oliver by taking him out for some relaxation time. They go to a karaoke bar where Oliver belts out a rousing rendition of "Don't Cry for Me Argentina." This bizarre and hilarious moment shows that Geoffrey is willing to do whatever it takes to help his actors get into character.

As the "Macbeth" production gets underway, Jack starts to exert his influence. He convinces the director, Darren Nichols (played by Don McKellar), to switch up some of the lines and make changes to the staging. This throws the rest of the cast into disarray as they try to keep up with the constant changes. Jack's wild behavior also starts to affect his co-stars, particularly Ellen Fanshaw (Martha Burns), who plays Lady Macbeth.

Ellen is simultaneously dazzled by Jack's charisma and frustrated by his demands. She tries to keep up with him as best she can, but it's clearly taking a toll on her. She confides in Geoffrey about her struggles and he tries to offer her some advice.

The episode culminates in the opening night of "Macbeth." The cast and crew are nervous as they wait for the audience's reaction, but they needn't have worried. The production is a success, and everyone is thrilled. Even Oliver, who has been struggling with his own doubts, delivers a powerful performance as Hamlet.

"Slings & Arrows" season 1 episode 4, "Outrageous Fortune," is a hilarious and heartwarming episode that showcases the drama and chaos of the New Burbage Theater Festival. The talented cast delivers standout performances, particularly Luke Kirby as the outrageous Jack Crew. It's a must-see for theater lovers and fans of quirky, character-driven comedies.
