In Snake City season 3 episode 6, titled The Cape Crusaders, we join Simon and Siouxsie as they explore the beautiful and rugged terrain of the Cape Peninsula in South Africa. As always, they are in search of some of the deadliest snakes in the region, and this time they are not disappointed.
Their first stop is to investigate a call from a local resident who has spotted what he believes to be a venomous cobra in his backyard. Simon and Siouxsie quickly arrive on the scene to find the homeowner outside, holding a large stick and looking nervous. Without hesitation, Simon goes in to catch the snake, while Siouxsie talks the homeowner through the process. It turns out to be a Cape Cobra, one of the most venomous snakes in the world, and Simon has to be careful not to get bitten.
Later, the dynamic duo head out on a hike to explore a nature reserve that is home to a variety of snakes, including the Puff Adder and Boomslang. They are accompanied by a local expert who shares his knowledge about the different species and their behaviors. As they make their way through the reserve, Simon and Siouxsie spot a large Puff Adder sunning itself on a rock, and quickly move in to catch it. The Puff Adder is known for its aggressive behavior, so Simon has to be careful not to get bitten.
Next, they come across a juvenile Boomslang, which is one of the deadliest snakes in Africa. Despite its small size, the Boomslang has a venom that is highly toxic, and Simon has to be extra careful when catching it. Siouxsie takes the opportunity to talk about the dangers of venomous snakebites and how to avoid them.
Later in the episode, Simon and Siouxsie are called to a local school where a large snake has been spotted inside the building. When they arrive, they find that it is a Mozambique Spitting Cobra, which is known to be particularly aggressive and dangerous. Simon suits up in protective gear and goes in to catch the snake, while Siouxsie evacuates the students and teachers from the building. It turns out to be a challenging catch, as the cobra spits venom at Simon and tries to escape.
Finally, Simon and Siouxsie take us to a local snake park where they demonstrate how to safely handle different species of snakes. They show us the proper way to catch a snake, how to handle it without getting bitten, and how to release it back into the wild. They also talk about the importance of snake conservation and why these creatures are so important to the ecosystem.
Overall, The Cape Crusaders is an exciting and informative episode of Snake City that shows Simon and Siouxsie at their best. They face dangerous and venomous snakes head-on, and teach us valuable lessons about snake safety and conservation.
