Young Franklin Saint is a dreamer, whose grand vision is to become a successful businessman and his community's top gun supplier. However, as fate would have it, he gets tangled in a turf war between other prominent and established drug lords. This is the premise of the exhilarating American crime drama series, Snowfall. In Trauma, the fourth episode of the first season, viewers are taken on a ride of tension and excitement that does not disappoint.

Trauma opens with the aftermath of the shooting that happened in the previous episode. Franklin is being interrogated by the police, and the conversation is intense. The lead investigator on the case, Detective Andrew Wright, is both intimidating and personable, as he tries to squeeze more information out of the young drug dealer. The investigation forces Franklin to reveal some secrets about his business, and he is left with a difficult decision to make.

Meanwhile, Teddy McDonald, a CIA agent, is on an international mission with his partner, Alejandro, that is not going so well. The two agents are on the hunt for a drug baron called Avi who is said to be smuggling drugs into the country. Teddy's experience in the military comes in handy, as he and Alejandro make their way through the treacherous jungle. However, when they finally catch up with Avi, a deadly ambush changes the course of the mission. Teddy's physical and emotional trauma is severe, and he is forced to make a tough decision that could jeopardize his mission even further.

Gustavo, one of Avi's henchmen, manages to flee the scene of the ambush, and he ends up finding refuge in a church where he meets a group of nuns. Despite Gustavo's harsh exterior and bad attitude, he finds he is touched by the kindness of the women who help him. The experience also brings back painful memories for Gustavo, who sees a resemblance between one of the nuns and someone he knew in his past.

Back in Los Angeles, Leon, Franklin's partner, takes over the business while Franklin is busy dealing with the police. Franklin's mother, Cissy, confronts Leon about the nature of their business, and tensions rise. We learn more about Cissy's character and the part she played in the civil rights movement during the 1960s. Her anger at the situation is palpable, and it is clear that she wants her son out of the dangerous game he has gotten himself into.

Elsewhere, Claudia, a wealthy and influential woman, is dealing with her own problems. She is an alcoholic and drug addict who is seeking some form of redemption. Her addiction has led her down a path that has forced her to make some poor choices that could ruin her reputation. Claudia's past is murky, and we soon find out that she has a connection to Teddy and his mission, which could complicate matters for the agents even further.

Trauma is a well-paced and tightly written episode, with just the right amount of tension, action, and character development. The storytelling is smart, and the viewer gets a deeper insight into the characters' motivations and the world they inhabit. The direction is excellent, and the use of music and cinematography helps to create a gritty and realistic atmosphere that leaves a lasting impression.

In conclusion, Trauma, the fourth episode of Snowfall's first season, is a must-watch for anyone who loves crime dramas. The show is a tour de force that explores the world of drug trafficking in Los Angeles in the 1980s. The performances by the cast are exceptional, and the writing is sharp and engaging. There is no doubt that Snowfall is a show that will keep viewers coming back for more.
