The show Stalker season 1 episode 2 titled "Whatever Happened to Baby James?" starts with the investigation of a case where a woman named Carrie Conrad discovers an unknown baby in her backseat after running some errands. The team of LAPD detectives Lieutenant Beth Davis and Detective Jack Larsen are put on the case to find out the identity of the baby and how it ended up in Carrie's car. After some investigation, they find out that the baby is James Tully, who was kidnapped from the hospital shortly after his birth.

As the investigation progresses, the detectives learn that James' mother, Paula Tully, is not married and had the baby through IVF. They also discover that Paula had a stalker who had been harassing her during her pregnancy. The stalker was identified as a man named Gary Blix, whom Paula had met on an online dating website. Blix had an obsession with Paula and had even installed a camera in her apartment to spy on her.

When the detectives track down Blix, they find disturbing evidence that links him to the kidnapping. However, Blix denies all the allegations and claims that he had nothing to do with the crime. The detectives then turn their attention to Paula's ex-boyfriend, Adam Weaver, who is a drug addict and has a history of violence.

As the investigation continues, the detectives discover more secrets about Paula's past, including the fact that she had a history of drug abuse and had been in rehab before. They also find out that she had a restraining order against another man who had been stalking her.

As the detectives close in on the suspects, they realize that they are running out of time to save Baby James. They also struggle with their own personal demons, as Beth opens up about her own experience with a stalker and Larsen deals with the fallout from his affair with his former partner's wife.

In the end, the team is able to solve the case and rescue Baby James. However, the detectives are haunted by the trauma of the case and the realization that there are many more victims out there like Paula and Baby James who are at risk of being stalked and victimized by predators.

Overall, "Whatever Happened to Baby James?" is a deeply unsettling episode that dives into the dark world of stalking and obsession.
