Stan Against Evil is a horror-comedy television series that follows the life of retired Sheriff Stanley Miller, who is forced to team up with Evie Barret, the current sheriff, in a small town that is cursed by demons. The show's second season features ten episodes, with the sixth episode titled Hex Marks the Tot.
In this episode, Stan and Evie encounter a coven of witches who have set their sights on a young girl named Bria. Bria has been cursed by the witches to become a vessel for their leader, Lilith, who they plan to summon at a coven meeting that night. The witches also reveal that they have a personal vendetta against Stan and plan to inflict pain on him.
Desperate to save Bria and stop Lilith's summoning, Stan and Evie enlist the help of Denise, the town's librarian and a practicing witch. Denise warns them that the only way to break the curse is to retrieve Bria's totem, a magical object that has been passed down in her family for generations and was stolen by the witches.
Meanwhile, Stan's daughter Denise and her boyfriend Kevin investigate a strange noise they hear coming from the Miller family mausoleum. They discover that Stan's wife, who was buried there years ago, is no longer in her tomb and instead find a message warning them about hexes and curses.
As Stan, Evie, and Denise race against time to retrieve Bria's totem, they are chased by the witches and face numerous obstacles. They are eventually successful in retrieving the totem, but their victory is short-lived when they find out that the totem was imbued with powerful magic that renders them all helpless.
Throughout the episode, the comedy is woven into the show's horror elements, with witty one-liners and humorous situations that provide some levity to the tension and suspense. The show's signature blend of horror and comedy is on full display in this episode, as is the strength of the ensemble cast, with John C. McGinley, Janet Varney, and Nate Mooney delivering standout performances.
Overall, Hex Marks the Tot is a well-crafted episode that advances the show's story and showcases its unique blend of horror and comedy. It is an entertaining and engaging watch for fans of the genre and the series.
