Ep 1. Pilot

Stargirl is an American television series, based on the DC Comics character, Courtney Whitmore/Stargirl. The series follows Courtney Whitmore, a high school teenager who discovers the cosmic staff, which leads her to become a superhero named Stargirl. Season 1 episode 1 is named "Pilot."

The episode opens with a scene of a superhero team called the Justice Society of America (JSA) battling the Injustice Society of America (ISA) in Blue Valley, Nebraska in 2010. The members of the JSA are being defeated, and it's revealed that the leader of the ISA, Icicle (Neil Jackson), is behind the attack. The scene ends with the JSA being killed.

Pat tells her that Starman was a member of the JSA and that they died in the 2010 attack. He also tells her that the ISA is still active and that they are the most dangerous villains the JSA ever faced.

Courtney decides to become a superhero using the cosmic staff and creates a costume for herself. She goes out at night to fight crime and is joined by a young man named Joey Zarick (Wil Deusner), who is also a fan of the JSA. However, they end up being chased by the police. Courtney escapes but Joey is apprehended.

The next day, Courtney goes to school and meets her new friend, Yolanda Montez (Yvette Monreal). Yolanda is a Latina student who is dealing with a break-up with her boyfriend, and some embarrassing photos of her have gone viral. Courtney offers to help her by hacking into the school's servers and deleting the photos. When they are successful, Yolanda offers Courtney a place in her friend group.

After school, Courtney hears about an ISA meeting at school and decides to attend. She sees her classmate Henry King Jr. (Jake Austin Walker) walk in and decides to follow him. She overhears the ISA's plans to revive their members who died in the 2010 attack and learns that her stepfather Pat used to be a member of the JSA.

The episode ends with Courtney confronting Pat about his past and asking him for his help in fighting the ISA.
