Starstruck season 1 episode 1, named NYE, follows the life of Jessie, a girl from New Zealand who is living in London. Kate, on the other hand, is completely smitten with Alistair and wants Jessie to like him too.

As the day progresses, Jessie heads to work at her cleaning job where she meets Tom, a handsome stranger who works in the same building. They strike up a conversation and Tom invites Jessie to join him at a party he is hosting that evening. Despite her initial reluctance, Jessie decides to go to the party after sorting out a few things at work.

At the party, Jessie meets Tom's friends which include his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend. Tensions are high and Jessie feels out of place as she tries to navigate her way through the various personalities at the party. Things take a turn for the worse when Alistair shows up uninvited and tries to win Jessie over once again.

The episode ends with Jessie and Tom having a heart-to-heart conversation on a rooftop. Jessie explains her situation and Tom offers his support. He then kisses her and the two of them head back down to the party. Jessie is pleasantly surprised to see that Alistair has left and the party is winding down. She and Tom dance the night away and it seems like she may have finally found somebody worth taking a chance on.
