In the Still Open All Hours season 2 premiere, titled "Tree Crazy," viewers are transported back to the quaint, bustling streets of Doncaster where they'll find the much-loved Granville, played by the incomparable Sir David Jason, still presiding over his beloved corner shop. As Christmas draws near, Granville is in full holiday mode, decking the halls, trimming the tree, and doling out festive cheer alongside his trusty sidekick Leroy (James Baxter).
With customers flooding in for their holiday shopping needs, Granville has his work cut out for him. Battling against the local supermarket, which seems to be serving up everything but the kitchen sink, Granville has to pull out all the stops if he's going to keep his customers from straying to the competition. However, he can't let himself get too carried away with the seasonal spirit, as he has his sights set on a certain girl he's been wanting to ask out for a while.
Meanwhile, in the midst of the holiday rush, the store's long-suffering cleaner Kathleen (Sally Lindsay) is getting increasingly frazzled. Having spent the last few weeks constantly reminding Granville to sort out the Christmas bonuses, she's at risk of losing her head when it looks like they may not be forthcoming after all.
As Granville scurries around trying to keep everyone happy and the shop in business, events take a turn for the worse when the much-anticipated Christmas tree fails to show up. With only a few days left until the big day, Granville is under pressure to find a solution quickly. In typical Still Open All Hours fashion, he comes up with a cunning plan, but it remains to be seen whether his festive wizardry will be enough to save the day.
With plenty of laughs, heart, and holiday spirit, "Tree Crazy" is a fitting tribute to the much-loved sitcom that continues to hold a special place in the hearts of viewers young and old. From its colorful cast of characters to its relatable humor and warm sense of nostalgia, this Christmas special promises to leave audiences feeling uplifted, entertained, and thoroughly charmed.
