In Still Open All Hours Season 3 Episode 4, titled "Christmas Puddings," viewers are once again transported to the beloved corner shop in Balby, Doncaster, where Granville (played by Sir David Jason) is still trying to keep the business alive and kicking. The episode takes place in the lead-up to Christmas, and the store is a hive of activity as shoppers flock in to buy festive treats and groceries.
As well as dealing with the demands of customers old and new, Granville also has to contend with the fact that he has promised to make a batch of his famous Christmas puddings. With the pressure on, he enlists the help of his nephew, Leroy (played by James Baxter), who is eager to prove he has what it takes to be a valuable member of the team. But with a series of mishaps and distractions getting in the way, it remains to be seen whether Granville and Leroy will be able to deliver the goods in time.
Meanwhile, there are other festive goings-on afoot at the shop. Nurse Gladys Emmanuel (Lynda Baron), always a popular figure with viewers, pays a visit, much to the delight of Granville. However, their romantic relationship is far from straightforward, and things soon start to get complicated between them.
Elsewhere, Mavis (Maggie Ollerenshaw) and Madge (Brigit Forsyth) are also getting into the Christmas spirit, with Mavis keen to make sure her beloved husband, the slightly eccentric Cyril (Geoffrey Whitehead), has the perfect festive season. But when Madge's idea of a perfect present for Cyril clashes with Mavis's plans, the two women become embroiled in a hilarious battle of wills.
Throughout the episode, viewers can expect to be treated to the same gentle humor, nostalgia, and heart that have made Still Open All Hours such a beloved fixture of British TV over the years. Whether you're a long-time fan of the show or simply looking for a slice of feel-good festive entertainment, "Christmas Puddings" is sure to deliver the goods. So grab a mince pie, settle down with a cup of tea, and let Granville and his team transport you to a simpler time and place.
