Ep 9. The Option Period

The Option Period begins with the countdown to the end of Matt's contract and Jordan trying to convince him to stay with the show. Things are tense as various members of the crew weigh in on what they want to happen. Just as the countdown clock winds down to the final minute, Matt returns to his office and announces his decision. He's staying with Studio 60!

As the team tries to process the news, they're interrupted by Harriet, who's there to give Matt an idea for an upcoming sketch. The group is initially resistant to her pitch, but after some tweaking, they realize it's a winner. However, their joy is short-lived when they learn that they may not be able to air the sketch due to a legal issue.

Meanwhile, Danny is dealing with his own problems - his father is coming to town and he's not sure how to handle it. He confides in Matt and the two have a heart-to-heart about their difficult relationships with their fathers. As the night wears on, Danny's nerves start to get the best of him and he turns to Jack for advice.

The tension comes to a head when Jordan and Tom have a heated argument about whether to air the sketch. Jordan feels passionately that they should take a risk and broadcast it, while Tom worries about the potential legal ramifications. In the end, they come to a compromise and the sketch is shown with a warning about its controversial content.

As the episode comes to a close, the team celebrates Matt's decision to stay and reflect on how far they've come. Despite the challenges they face on a daily basis, they're determined to continue putting on the best show possible.
