Mortal Kombat: Conquest is an American television series that aired from October 1998 to May 1999. Produced by Warner Bros., the show features a unique blend of martial arts, fantasy, and adventure, based on the popular Mortal Kombat video game franchise. The series is set in the mythical realm of the Outworld, where the evil sorcerer Shao Kahn rules with an iron fist. To maintain his grip on power, Kahn has instituted a brutal tournament known as Mortal Kombat, in which warriors from different lands must fight to the death. If the champion of the Outworld wins ten consecutive Mortal Kombat tournaments, he will be allowed to invade and conquer Earth.

In this dark and violent world, we meet Kung Lao (played by Paolo Montalban), a skilled martial artist and one of the last surviving members of the White Lotus Society – a group dedicated to defeating Shao Kahn and his minions. Along with his mentor, the wise and mystical Master Bo Rai Cho (played by Bruce Locke), Kung Lao has been chosen to represent Earth in the next Mortal Kombat tournament.

As Kung Lao journey to the Outworld to compete in the tournament, he meets a diverse cast of characters, including warriors, sorcerers, and assassins, all with their own agendas and motivations. Among them are Siro (played by Daniel Bernhardt), a former member of the Black Dragon clan and Kung Lao's loyal friend, and Taja (played by Kristanna Loken), a talented thief who becomes Kung Lao's love interest.

Throughout the series, Kung Lao, Siro, and Taja must overcome deadly opponents, treacherous alliances, and personal demons, all while building alliances with other warriors who share their desire to defeat Shao Kahn. Along the way, they learn valuable lessons about honor, courage, and sacrifice, as they fight to protect both Earth and the Outworld from destruction.

Some standout episodes of Mortal Kombat: Conquest include "The Tournament," in which Kung Lao and Siro compete in the first round of Mortal Kombat, facing formidable opponents like Sub-Zero and Scorpion. "Undying Dream," in which Kung Lao is plagued by visions of his own death, forcing him to confront his deepest fears and insecurities. "The Essence," in which Taja is kidnapped by an evil sorcerer seeking to harness her mystical powers for his own purposes. And "Quan Chi," in which the villainous sorcerer Quan Chi (played by Adoni Maropis) is introduced as a major player in the Mortal Kombat universe.

One of the highlights of Mortal Kombat: Conquest is its impressive action sequences, which feature a mix of martial arts, special effects, and stunts. The fighting is fast-paced and intense, with each warrior bringing their own unique style and strategy to the arena. The show also boasts impressive costumes and set designs, which transport viewers to a world of dark magic and ancient temples.

Overall, Mortal Kombat: Conquest is an engaging and entertaining series that will appeal to fans of martial arts, fantasy, and adventure. Its characters are well-drawn and likable, and the plot is intricately woven with plenty of twists and turns to keep viewers guessing. While the show was ultimately canceled after just one season, it remains a cult classic among Mortal Kombat fans and a testament to the enduring popularity of the franchise.
