Ep 5. I Went to Market

In "Succession" season 1 episode 5 titled "I Went to Market", the family drama and power struggle intensifies as Logan Roy, the patriarch of the media empire, returns from a brief stay in the hospital. Upon his return, Logan immediately begins to make changes and puts his trust in a new friend and ally, the charming but enigmatic Lawrence Yee.

Meanwhile, Kendall Roy, Logan's son and presumed successor, tries to make a name for himself and take control of some of the company's operations. He starts by visiting a potential acquisition target, a digital media company called Vaulter, and ends up getting caught up in a viral video controversy. Kendall's antics put him in hot water with both his family and the potential acquisition, leading to tensions within the company and within the Roy family.

At the same time, Roman Roy, Logan's other son, continues to struggle with his own place in the family business and his relationship with his father. Despite trying to prove himself and gain his father's approval, Roman is repeatedly shut down and overlooked in favor of Kendall and other executives. He turns to his girlfriend for support, but their relationship hits a rough patch as well.

Meanwhile, Logan's daughter, Shiv Roy, tries to navigate her own path to power within the company and prove her worth. She accompanies her father to a business meeting in Washington D.C., but struggles to make her voice heard in a room full of powerful men. Shiv also has to confront some uncomfortable truths about her marriage and her future aspirations.

As Logan, Kendall, Roman, and Shiv all try to stake their claim within the company and prove their worth to each other and the world, tensions mount and alliances shift. "I Went to Market" sets the stage for the rest of "Succession" season 1 as the Roy family continues to scheme, plot, and fight for control of their media empire.
